Displaying your terms of service, privacy policy, shipping and payment information, as well as the return policy, is vital when running an online business.
You can add all the legal pages and policies you need to your store. This way, customers can read this information whenever they want. You can also explicitly ask shoppers to consent to your legal documents at checkout before placing their order.
Adding legal pages to your store
You can create the following legal pages in your store:
- Terms & Conditions
- Privacy Policy
- Shipping & Payment Info
- Return Policy
- About Us
If you need any other documents, simply rename the page when adding it.
There are two ways to append legal texts to your store. First, you can create texts in your store admin using the built-in editor. In this case, they are published on dedicated pages inside your store just as you design them. Second, you can add a link to an external URL. For example, if you already have a page with legal information created on your custom website.
To add legal pages to your store:
- From your store admin, go to Settings → Legal.
- Scroll down to the Legal pages and policies section:
- Click Add Page next to the required legal page.
- Depending on how you want to append legal texts to your store, choose your option:
- If you want to create your legal document in store admin, click Add page content and enter your text.
- If you already have a page with your legal information somewhere on the web, click Change page title and address and fill out the Web address for… field. Make sure the URL to the external page with your legal information starts with https://
If you add an external URL, legal page contents entered in the store admin will be ignored. Any links to this legal page in your store will redirect to your URL.
- (optional) In the Page settings block, set another title for your page (e.g., rename "Privacy Policy" into "Cookie Policy").
- Click Save.
That’s it! You’ve added a legal page to your store. Now links to it will be displayed at the bottom of your store’s customer email notifications, in customers accounts You can also show links to legal pages at your store checkout to ask customers to consent to them.
Asking customers to agree with legal pages at checkout
You can add a special checkbox in your cart so that customers are able to read your legal documents at checkout and agree with them before placing an order.
To ask customers to agree with your legal pages at checkout:
- From your store admin, go to Settings → Legal.
- Scroll down to the Customers’ consent section.
- Enable the Require consent to terms and conditions at checkout toggle.
That’s it! Now your customers will see a dedicated checkbox at checkout with all your store’s legal pages listed:
Customers can click each link to read the text prior to giving consent. Legal page contents will be opened as popup windows. In case you’ve specified an external URL when adding a legal page to your store, the link will open in a new tab.
Hiding legal pages from your store
While deleting legal pages that are already added is not available, you can hide a legal page from your store. For example, if you want to update its text or no longer need the page.
To hide a legal page from your store:
- From your store admin, go to Settings → Legal.
- Scroll down to the Legal pages and policies section.
- Disable the toggle next to an existing legal page:
That’s it! Now links to this legal page will no longer appear in your storefront and your store’s notifications.
You can always enable the page back later if you need it.

Privacy Policy
You need to let your customers know what information your store collects and how it will be used. Customers want to know if their personal data will be anyhow exposed to third parties or used for newsletters. By providing a clear explanation on this matter, you can be sure to increase liability among your clients. This is also required by laws in some countries – for example, by GDPR in Europe.
The Privacy Policy clarifies what information is collected through your website and store. This may include:
- Use of cookies
- How you process personal information (emails, addresses, names, etc.)
- Whether you distribute this information to any third party and, if so – what for, etc.
Shipping and Payment Info
The shipping info page explains your delivery policy and may include the following information:
- What items are allowed for shipment
- Regions to which you deliver your goods
- Terms of delivery
- Estimated shipping time and price
- How you handle returns
The payment info page should cover all possible questions about payment methods in your store.
